David Fogel Interviews Composer, Pianist, and Accordionist Ronn Yedidia

Ronn Yedidia is a world-renowned composer, pianist, and accordionist. His compositions have been recorded by numerous artists and ensembles on major labels such as Sony BMG, EMI Classics, Naxos’ American Classics and Centaur Records. His solo album "Yedidia Plays Yedidia" on Britain's Altarus label, has galvanized the attention of pianists and composers around the world.  A Doctor of Musical Arts in Composition from the Juilliard School - Yedidia won special grants from both ASCAP and BMI, and a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship. His major commissions include the San Antonio International Piano Competition, the Seattle Chamber Music Society and the Zamir Chorale of New York.  He has written for all instrumental mediums from solo through chamber to symphonic works, and for most vocal idioms including art song, pop/folk songs, and both sacred & secular choral works. The world premiere of his work "Steps In The Wonderland" was presented by the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra across Israel in May, 2007. In 1994 he was invited by Wanda Toscanini-Horowitz to edit and record the unpublished piano compositions by the legendary pianist Vladimir Horowitz. In 2005 he co-founded the New York Piano Academy and since then has served as its Classical Program Director.  In 2018 the publishing house Muse Press of Japan signed Ronn Yedidia on an exclusive contract to publish his entire solo piano output (more than 150 works). Otherwise, his compositions are published and distributed via his own individual publishing entity, Verse Music, in affiliation with BMI.
