David Fogel interviews violinist Laure Chan

Laure Chan is a British Franco-Chinese violinist and composer recognized for her expressive performances and original works. Named a Rising Star by BBC Music Magazine and featured in Classic FM’s 30 Under 30, she has performed at major venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Carnegie Hall, Berlin Philharmonie, and theShanghai Oriental Arts Centre.

Alongside solo performance, she is deeply interested in chamber music, composing, and cross-genre collaborations where she was able to explore this further as a Creative Project Development Artist in Residence at the Verbier Festival, supported by a Verbier Festival Academy Grant. She has received international 1st prizes in Paris, Berlin and New York, the Oxford Philharmonic Director’s Award, as well as solo prizes from both the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music.

Her album recordings:Tribute to Bach, and Schumann Violin Concerto, have been featured in national and international press including the BBC, Classic FM, International Arts Manager, and Interlude HK. She has also served as an ambassador for the Benedetti Foundation, supporting music education. Laure earned her Bachelor, Master, and Artist Diploma at the Royal College of Music, studying with Itzhak Rashkovsky, Radu Blidar, and Gabrielle Lester. Laure has received mentorship from Maxim Vengerov, Nicola Benedetti, Isabelle van Keulen, and Pinchas Zukerman.
