David Fogel interviews Alexander Unseth
Alexander is a self-taught composer from St. Louis, MO. After winning an Originality Award at 18 years old for his work, Beethoven on Broadway for cello and piano, Alexander officially started his compositional journey. Since then, he won the 2023 Best Symphonina of the Year Award Competition and the 2024 Ruzickova Composition Competition, both of which resulted in him being the youngest featured artist on the albums associated with both competitions. Although he has won numerous other competitions. Alexander places a large emphasis on composing for amateur ensembles (high schools, churches, etc.) around the country - notable examples include The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Arizona State University, and University of Missouri-Columbia. He is currently an undergraduate student at the University of Missouri-Kansas City studying business administration.
